DOT - Drug & Alcohol
Ready Training’s web-based Supervisor and Employee Training Program was co-produced
with American Drug Testing - a leading DOT drug testing company. This program provides
the tools and medical knowledge necessary to determine the physical, behavioral,
speech, and performance indicators of alcohol and drug use.
Supervisors need to recognize the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance
indicators of drug and alcohol abuse. In fact, this is one of the requirements as
outlined by the Department of Transportation for establishing a drug-free workplace
(in compliance with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988: Fines for non-compliance
are $500 per occurrence.*)
Specifically, supervisors will learn:
- How to identify illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
- The linkage between drug and alcohol problems and performance problems
- How to identify and investigate crisis situations
- How to recognize workplace problems related to employee use of alcohol and drugs
- How to intervene in problem situations
- How to refer employees who have problems with alcohol and other drugs
- How to protect employee confidentiality
- How to continue to supervise employees who have been referred to assistance
- How to avoid enabling and common supervisor traps
Our program also describes how to confront the employee and properly record the
action. Referral, evaluation and treatment procedures are also explained.
The program is completely interactive, including quiz questions in each section.
This interactivity insures that your supervisor will come away from the program
with a complete understanding of illegal drugs and alcohol--and the negative effects
on both the employee and the organization.
